Computer Literacy Classes
|
Our
Basic Computer Course is designed for
individuals with very limited computer skills. As you
progress through the course, you will learn several
programs important to working in an office environment,
including: basic computer know-how, the Windows environment,
basic Microsoft Word (Word Processor), introduction
to the Internet, basic Excel (Spreadsheet Program),
introduction to Quickbooks (accounting software) and
an introduction to Power Point (presentation software).
Our Comprehensive Quickbooks Course is designed
for individuals who want to learn Quickbooks so they can improve
their employment opportunities. To take COJO’s Quickbooks
course you need to have at least basic computer skills such
as turning on a computer, opening a program, and limited typing
skills. In this course you will learn how to use the Quickbooks
program enabling you to obtain a job as an assistant bookkeeper
or in a small office, where some knowledge of Quickbooks is
required.

English as a Second Language (ESL) & Civics Classes
|
| Our
Free ESL & Civics Classes are designed
for adults who are native speakers of a foreign language
and have limited or no English language skills. Our
courses are given during the day, Monday through Friday.
Students enrolled in this class are taught how to read,
write, speak and understand English so they can function
in their day-to-day life more easily and get a job where
communicating in English is required. Students enrolled
in this course will also be taught basic American history
and facts necessary to pass the citizenship test, so
they may become citizens of the USA.

| Our
Free Job Readiness Skills Training Workshops
are held periodically for all local residents, 18 years
of age and over. These workshops are designed to help
people looking for a job learn how to present themselves
in the most effective manner. During our Job Readiness
Workshops individuals will learn how to effectively:
fill out a job application, write a resume, write an
impressive cover letter, write a memorable thank-you
note, use networking to obtain a job, search the Internet
and newspapers for a job, undertake career planning,
enter the world of work, and dress for success. They
will also learn How To Get A Job and Keep It.

Small Business Workshops

| Our
Free Small Business Workshops are designed
to help and direct entrepreneurs looking to either start
or expand their small businesses (including a home-based
business). These workshops have been held in several
languages including, Spanish, French, Russian, Haitian
Creole and Mandarin Chinese. Recent workshops have covered
a wide range of subjects including: Small Business Financing,
Requirements for Small Business Start up, Opportunities
for Small Business in the International Arena, Local
Laws, the Relationship between Small Business &
the Government, Business American Style (Roadmap to
Owning a Small Business for Recent Immigrants). The
workshops are held periodically.
